Obituary - Marcus Ole Warren

Marcus Ole Warren was born March 19, 1932, in Grove City, Minnesota. His parents were Martin and Inez (Peterson) Warren, and he was one of 15 children in the family. Ole was baptized as a Lutheran and received his formal education in Grove City.

At age 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict from 1951-54 as a seaman first class. After receiving his honorable discharge, he hiked to Montana to visit a brother who was living in Gildford.

Ole's plans were to eventually return to Minnesota, but he quickly fell in love with Montana and a young Gildford girl named Joanne Preeshl. The couple was married on Sept. 17, 1955.

They made their home in Gildford where Ole worked at the General Mills Elevator. In 1957 they moved to Hingham where Ole managed the Anderson Grain Company (which later became Cargill). At the same time he took over a grain bin construction business, which he ran independently from his job at Cargill.

In 1976 the Warrens, along with their two sons, purchased a farm near Hingham. Ole remained a loyal employee at Cargill for 35 years, then retired in 1992. He loved to stay busy, so he continued to sell/erect grain bins throughout the Hi-Line.

Ole wasn't afraid of hard work and did most of it the "old-fashioned way" - by hand. Ole was well known in the community for his "old yellow trucks," which were not only his pride and joy, but also the trademark in his grain bin business.

In 2008 Ole was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. He fought a good fight against this respiratory problem for seven years. He was recently admitted to the Benefis Hospital in Great Falls and then transferred to the Northern Montana Care Center for extended care. After a week in the Havre care facility, Ole died peacefully on the evening of Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was 83 years old.

Ole enjoyed mowing and working in his yard. In his quiet time at home he liked to build jigsaw puzzles and watch NFL games on television. He also enjoyed his daily coffee shop chats with his buddies. But most of all, he loved attending the activities and events of his many grandchildren.

Ole was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne "Jody" Warren; two sons, Mark and Debbie Warren and Carey and Ann Warren; and one daughter, LaNay and Steve White, all of Hingham; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and numerous nephews and nieces.

It was Ole's wishes to be cremated, followed by interment of his ashes at Highland Cemetery in Havre. A private family burial service is being planned by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester. Memorials may be offered to the Hingham Park to purchase a picnic table or to donor's choice.
