Obituary - Edwin R. Puckett

Edwin R. Puckett left us Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, to be with the Lord after a short battle with brain cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Ed’s birthday, Saturday, May 2, at Sunburst Lutheran Church at 4 p.m.

Ed was born in Scobey, Montana, on May 2, 1960, to Gordon and Judy Puckett.

He spent in his entire childhood in Toole County and lived in Devon and Oilmont prior to moving to Sunburst in 1974.

Ed enjoyed football, music and drama at North Toole County High School and worked several jobs including the role of a disc jockey at KSEN in Shelby. Back then he was known as Ed “Pistol” Puckett.

He was a very kind person with a great sense of humor and smile for all he met.

He graduated from North Toole County High School in 1979 and worked at Buttreys in Shelby for many years before moving to Chinook, where he also was employed at the Buttreys store, there and in Harlem.

He married Edna Speir in 1990, and they later moved to Kennewick, Washington, where they have resided for the last 23 years.

Ed’s biggest joy was the birth of his son, Dennis “Petey” Puckett, in 1991. He recognized Petey’s musical talent at an early age and encouraged Pete to pursue his passion. As a result, Petey formed his band, The Petey Puckett Band which has played in numerous locations in Washington State.

Ed loved supporting Petey’s band in any way he could. Ed attended Washington State University for four years where he pursued his passion for writing.

In spite of numerous health issues that plagued him through his adult life, he never lost his positive, funny personality and remained strong in his faith for his Lord Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Puckett; his grandparents, Ed and Norma Puckett and Charles and Elsie Motschenbacher as well as his beloved dog, Copper.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edna; his best friend and son, Petey; mother, Judy Puckett; sisters, Pam (Gerry) Veis and Carmen (Kelly) Schafer; several nieces, nephews and all his friends and neighbors.

We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and smile.
