New United Way of Hill County executive director excited to get things done

United Way of Hill County's new executive director has big plans for the area.

Jessica Nebel has been working for the organization since January.

Nebel said most of the organizations that United Way of Hill County supports fall under the categories of education, health or income stability.

"This year, we are really refocusing and rebranding ourselves," she said. "I would like to see us have a bigger presence in the community."

Nebel said United Way's plans for the future include a crab boil fundraiser in October.

"We're going to be doing some volunteering at the senior citizen center," she said. "Volunteering is really important - we feel it brings the community together."

Nebel said the main goal of her organization is to bring community services and resources to one place.

"What we want to be is the number one designation for community giving. So if somebody in the community wants to donate, they would feel comfortable knowing that if they wrote a check to United Way - that (we would spread) the wealth throughout the community," she said.

Nebel said her organization has a lot of support from local businesses, but community members are welcome to donate.

"If somebody wanted to come down and donate, they absolutely could," she said.

Nebel added that many of the nonprofits her organization funds are volunteer programs, such as Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen and the Havre Food Bank.

Nebel replaced Lorraine Verploegen, who served as the executive director for six years.
