Hands On History set for Saturday

The H. Earl and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation will be holding the 11th annual Hands On History event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holiday Village Mall.

Elaine Morse, Clack Foundation president, said there will be about 30 to 35 activities set up such as gold panning, apple peeling and old-fashioned clothes washing.

“We’re going to have a sheep to shawl event where there’s actually going to be sheep. They’re going to card wool, they will spin and then there’s actually some people that have an old-time sock machine that they’re going to make socks,” she said. “It shows kids how things used to be — how to do things without using electricity.”

Morse said about 20 sponsors have donated to this event, and there will most likely be 20 free activities available.

“We haven’t finalized everything yet,” she said.

Tickets are two for $1 and will be sold at the event. The amount of tickets needed for each event will vary. Some activities will be free.

Proceeds from this event will go toward the Clack Foundation.

“We support the museum and the Buffalo Jump,” Morse added.
