Sunnyside principal resigns

Josh Preiss, the current principal of Sunnyside Intermediate School, has put in his resignation after two years of work.

Andy Carlson, superintendent of Havre Public Schools, said that Preiss will be finishing up the current year before leaving his position.

This is the second year Preiss has been principal of Sunnyside.

“I appreciate what Mr. Preiss has done,” Carlson said. “I realize what he wants to do is get closer to family. We wish him well and appreciate the time he’s been here in Havre.”

He said that it is his responsibility to find recommendations for the new principal at Sunnyside, and then present them to the Havre School Board of Trustees. If they accept the recommendation, it is done, but if they do not, Carlson must find another recommendation.

At the March 24 board meeting, Carlson will be recommending the assistant principal of Havre Middle School, Carmen Lunak.
