Saturday's Prep Basketball: Rocky Boy takes third at Class B state tourney

The Rocky Boy Stars won two dramatic basketball games on Saturday, and in the process, earned a coveted trophy at the 2015 Class B state tournament in Great Falls.

Saturday morning, the Stars toppled defending state champion Bigfork 83-75, and then, later in the afternoon, they knocked off Columbus 78-75 in double-overtime to win the consolation game. It was Rocky Boy's first trophy at state since they won the state B title seven years ago.

Meanwhile, Havre was knocked out of the Class A state tournament Saturday morning by Columbia Falls, in yet another heartbreaker. The Ponies led by as many as 14 points in the second half, but the Wildcats stormed back to force overtime, then held Havre's game-winning shot attempt off in the final seconds of OT to beat the Ponies 59-58. The Wildcats went on to take third, while Laurel beat Dillon 61-52 in the championship game.
