The Havre High boys basketball team will play in the Class A state semifinals for the first time in 11 years. On Thursday night in Bozeman, the Ponies toppled Eastern A champion Billings Central 69-56. The win moves Havre into Friday night's semifinal game against Southwest A champion Dillon.
Havre nearly led the entire game, and got 19 first-half points from Dane Warp, who finished the contest with 25. Nate Rismon also scored 18 as the Ponies improved to 16-7 on the season. Havre and Dillon will meet Friday at 8 p.m. for a spot in the state championship game.
Meanwhile, Thursday wasn't as kind to the Rocky Boy Stars, who fell in a shootout with Huntley Project in the opening round of the Class B state tournament in Great Falls. The Red Devils beat the Stars 89-81, pushing Rocky Boy into a loser-out game against Big Timber Friday morning.
