Local Bowling Report: Ryan Mapes bowls his third career 300-game

After a weekend of fierce bowling, the first ever Havre U.S.B.C. tournament is over. This was the first tournament where men and women competed against each other. Here are the “unofficial results.” The Team Event was won by Shamrock’s with a score of 2,504. Members were Doris Howard, Suoener Springer, Modesty Cavin and Julie Rodgers. Second place in team was Budlight with 2,492, and third was the 4 Goofs with 2,486.

In doubles, first was Ryan Mapes and Corey Winson 1,467; second was Julile Rodgers and Modesty Cavin 1,394; third was Dave Herman and Shawn Mariani 1,369. In singles, Kyle Fanning was first with 741; second was Kyle Surber with 740; third was Roman Surber 723. All events was Kyle Surber with 2,121 (scratch).

All-in-all, for the first time with this format the tournament was a success. Scores were really high — Roman Surber shot a 299 leaving a 9 pin on his final ball. Ryan Mapes had a 777 series, Kyle Surber a 740 Series, Julie Rodgers a 709 and there were several 250’s, 260’s and 270’s along with high 600 series. Kyle Surber averaged 235 on his was to the 2121 all events.

The highlight of the week however, was the 300-game Ryan Mapes had Wednesday Night Men’s League. It was his third career 300. He ended the night with a 764 series. Congratulations to him on that feat.
