Two games is all that stand between the Glacier Nationals and the completion of their first NAHL3 hockey season in Havre.
And the Nationals would love nothing more than to go out with a couple of wins.
Tonight, Glacier will play its final road game of the season when the Nationals visit the Great Falls Americans at 7:30 p.m. in Great Falls. Then, Saturday night, the Nationals will close out the 2014-15 season with a game against the Billings Bulls at the Havre Ice Dome.
Both games will be winnable for the Nationals, who come into the final weekend of the season with a 10-29-6 record. While Glacier has lost two straight, the Nationals have beaten the Americans, who are in first place in the Frontier Division standings three times this season, including a 2-1 win back on Jan. 24. The last time the two teams faced off though, the Americans shut out the Nationals 7-0 on Feb. 6.
But as much as the Nationals, led by head coach Butch Kowalka, would like to beat the rival Americans one more time, they certainly will be gunning for a win in their final game of the season Saturday night. The Bulls come in to Saturday night’s game in fourth place in the Frontier standings and also having locked up the fourth playoff spot from the division. Helena and Gillette are the other two playoff teams from the Frontier. Billings will also come to the Havre Ice Dome having not lost to the Nationals this year.
Tonight’s game between Glacier and Great Falls will start at 7:30 in Great Falls. Glacier’s home finale against the Bulls will also start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at the Havre Ice Dome.
