Laura M. Palm, 104, a retired school teacher, died peacefully at the Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015.
Her funeral will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Chinook Presbyterian Church with burial in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery. A reception at the Senior Citizens Center will follow. Born Sept. 14, 1910, in Chinook, Laura grew up here, graduating from Chinook High School in 1929. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Montana College in 1959.
Laura and Victor Palm married in 1937. Laura taught school for some thirty years in four different Montana elementary schools, including Lone Tree Bench, Cole, Zurich, and Chinook.
Laura was a member of the Chinook Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Eagles Auxiliary, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Born into a family of Blaine County pioneers, Laura was honored as a Montana centenarian by Governor Brian Schweitzer.
Surviving are one daughter, Ardis (Dick) Conrad of Chinook; two sons, Victor (Joyce) Palm of Easton, Pennsylvania, and Charles (Miriam) Palm of Palo Alto, California; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, in 1992.
Memorials may be sent to the Chinook Presbyterian Church or the Sweet Nursing Home of Chinook.
