The Lord put his arms around our beloved Myrtle Jacobson and took her home on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Northern Montana Hospital. With her family nearby, she quietly slipped away to the home she so anxiously awaited. She was born Myrtle Nannie Elvira Pearson on June 12, 1919, in Menominee, Michigan. She married Ingvold Pershing "Bud" Jacobson on Nov. 25, 1943. They moved to Hobson, Montana, where they owned and operated the Hobson Equipment Co., and later moved to Havre, Montana, and started Jacobson Drilling Company.
Throughout Myrtle's life, she cherished family time, cooking and baking.
Her life was lovingly centered around her church, husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Making a home for her family was the most important thing in her life and what she enjoyed most. She was known to put others before herself and left an imprint on everyone’s heart who was lucky enough to have known her.
Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Delaine (Murray) Barkus and Connie (Jerry) Ridgeway; son, Robert (Teri) Jacobson; grandchildren, Jason (Tammi) Barkus, Brooke (Thomas) Grosskopf, Justin Ridgeway, Jared (Shonna) Ridgeway, Jeffrey Ridgeway, Kirsten Jacobson, and Dane Jacobson; step-grandchildren Elizabeth (Andy) Meyers and Seth Handy; great-grandchildren, McKenna Barkus, Alexandra Barkus and Ella Grace Ridgeway; step-great-grandchildren, Declan Meyers and Jaxon Handy; and brother, Alvin Pearson; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bud; and her treasured grandson, Ryan Neil Barkus.
Memorials may be made to Northern Montana Care Center, 24 13th Street, Havre, MT 59501, or to the charity of the donor's choice. Respecting her oft-repeated wish, no funeral service is planned. However, a private family graveside service will be held this summer.
Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Please visit Myrtle's online memorial page and leave a message of condolence for the family at http://www.hollandbonine.com.
We thank you Mom, Grandma, and Great-grandma for being there for each and every one of us. Your sweet, kind, and giving spirit will live within us and carry us through this earthly journey until we meet again, as in Christ, there are no goodbyes.
