Gunnar Aageson, Havre Wrestling

Five Havre Blue Ponies won state wrestling championships this past weekend at the All-Class state tournament in Billings. HHS senior Gunnar Aageson wasn't one of them. But perhaps no one had a more important, or spectacular state tournament than the 145-pound Blue Pony, who also excels in football and track and field. Aageson, a No. 3 seed coming in, pinned three rivals on his way to the 145-pound state championship match, where he ran into top-ranked teammate Parker Filius. And though Filius won their bout, Aageson scored 24 points to help the Ponies win their third straight state title.

Havre 400-yard Girls Relay Team

It seems like the Havre High girls always do something special at the Montana State Swimming Championships. And this past weekend, at the 2015 state meet in Missoula, the Ponies did again. The Havre 400-yard relay team not only reached the finals of the state meet, but they placed an outstanding sixth with a time of 4:12.85. The team was composed of Lieza Reighard, Jackie Martin, Amelia Miller and Aubri McCann, while Alara Vogel was an alternate.

The finish helped the Pony girls to a second-place finish in the Class A standings.
