Havre hosts Helena on senior weekend at the Havre Ice Dome
The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team got back on the ice after a week off, and they continued their recent string of good play.
Playing two games on Kalispell’s outdoor rink last weekend, the Ice Hawks came away with one tie and a win over the Flathead Fusion. Last Friday, the Ice Hawks tied the Fusion 1-1, then turned around Saturday and dominated Flathead 4-1.
In the second game of the weekend, Ice Hawk’s goalie Josh Emge stopped 45 Flathead shots, as he was brilliant between the pipes. Offensively, Havre got 33 shots on the Flathead goalie, while four different Ice Hawks found the back of the net. Kyle Konesky scored on an assist from Blake Hanson, while Hanson scored on assist from brother Alex Hanson. Gavin Gunderson also scored on an assist from Kyle Kirkpatrick, while Caleb McLain scored on an assist by Konesky.
In Friday’s game, which was interrupted by warm temperatures and rain, Emge saved 26 shots, while Flathead’s goalie stopped 44. Nic Stump scored Havre’s lone goal on an assist from Jeffrey Ralph.
The Ice Hawks will be back in the Havre Ice Dome this weekend for two big home games. Saturday, Havre will honor its five seniors before taking on the Helena Bighorns at 4 p.m. Havre’s seniors are Gunderson, McLain, Konesky, Emge and Alex Hanson. The Ice Hawks and Bighorns will also square off on Sunday at 11 a.m.
