The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board, along with the H. Earl and Margaret Turner Clack Memorial Museum Foundation, held a discussion meeting Monday at Montana State University-Northern.
A quorum was not present, but those who attended held an informal discussion.
Val Hickman, vice chairperson of the museum board, gave the group a tour of the new museum area and storage facilities, which are located in the lower level of Northern’s Vande Bogart Library.
“The vast majority of (the storage boxes) came from Aaniiih Nakoda College,” she said. “They had a whole bunch of our tribal boxes donated to them, and they were going to throw them away.”
The group then heard an update.
Allison Keeley of the Clack Foundation said a date has been set for “Hands On History.” This will be held April 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Holiday Village Mall.
Keeley also said her group is looking for someone who has lambs, due to the person who normally demonstrated the lamb activity moving out of the area.
“We’re going to do a whole section of lambs, to sheep — to carding, to spinning,” she said. “This year, one of our new design activity demonstrations is 1910 sock makers. There’s a group of ladies from down in Chinook that do that. … They’re going to bring a spinning wheel and everything.”
The next museum board meeting will be held Monday, March 9 at the Great Northern-Best Western Inn Conference Room, 1345 1st Street East at 5:30 p.m.
