Meeting planned to get ideas
The District 4 Human Resources Development Council will host a meeting Thursday to discuss a family housing project that is aimed for people with handicapped needs — Antelope Court.
The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Court Community Center, 2351 5th Ave.
The architects who will be designing the buildings and layout of Antelope Court will be present at the meeting and the public is welcome for input on design as well as to voice concerns.
Carilla French, administrative officer of the HRDC, said Antelope Court is a housing project that, once completed, will be geared toward people with disabilities. This will be located just south of Buffalo Court, near the HRDC offices.
“It’ll be 30 units and all but six of those units will be fully handicap accessible,” she said.
French also said this project is in the early stages and that the goal for this project to be completed by the summer of 2016.
She said the purpose of the meeting is “to garner information, thoughts, feelings, ideas from the entire group regarding the new development of 30 units of affordable housing called Antelope Court to aid in the new project design.”
French added that her team saw a great need for handicap accessible housing in the community.
“Currently, Havre has no handicap accessible housing that’s available for rent,” she said. “The handicap housing that is available in Havre is private owners who have modified their own homes.”
