Justin May, C/J-I Boys Basketball
Chester/J-I junior Justin May started the high school basketball season on a tear, and he hasn’t slowed down. May, a two-time All-Northern C selection, was again a scoring machine this past weekend. In a tough loss to Chinook on Friday night, May pumped in 24 points, then, in a dominating performance against Turner Saturday night, May scored 31. It was his third 30-point performance of the season. May is also the leading scorer in the 9C this winter, and on top of all of that, he’s coming off an Class C All-State football season this past fall.
Dani Wagner, Havre Girls Basketball
The Havre High girls basketball team seems like it can do no wrong right now. And, as the Ponies ripped off their seventh and eighth straight wins this past week, junior Dani Wagner was leading the way. On Thursday night in Great Falls, Wagner scored a career-high 26 points leading the Ponies to a season sweep of the Bison. On Saturday night, she added another eight points and six assists as Havre beat CMR at the HHS gymnasium. Wagner has blossomed into a three-sport star for the Ponies. She earned All-State honors this past fall in volleyball, and is also a standout in softball in the spring.
