George Dodaro died Jan. 25 in Seattle, where he lived briefly after the death of his wife, Mary.
George grew up in Havre where he lived for 42 years. He started working with his father on the railroad in his teens. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. George was an avid fly fisherman and in his later years a golfer. When he could no longer travel, he often spoke of Havre and wanted to return for a visit.
George and Mary would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on Feb. 10, 2015. They are survived by their son, Gerald Michael; and daughter-in-law, Diane Lynne Althaus of Seattle. George and Mary were members of Messiah Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Washington. Now they are together with their daughter Bonnie Jean in the church triumphant.
