Havre's skate park could be in for some sprucing up.
City resident Anthony Thomas, a skater, appeared before City Council Monday night to see if the city would agree to fix up the park, which he said “in complete disrepair.”
The park could be something that would attract people to the city, he said. Instead, he said, it looks awful and skaters avoid going there.
Thomas said he saw something on the city‘s website about a skate park superintendent, but said the position has apparently been unfilled for some time.
Mayor Tim Solomon admitted he knew nothing about the position.
Solomon invited Thomas to come to city hall to talk to officials about what could be done to repair the park.
In other business at Monday night’s council meeting:
Gordon Thompson, an auditor with with Anderson Zurmuehlen, gave the city a clean bill of health in its annual audit.
“You have a clean audit,” he told council members. ”You have done a good job. We don’t have to deal with any big issues.”
He made a few suggestions on minor improvements the city could do.
For instance, he said, department heads approve the time cards of their employees, but the department heads submit time cards unapproved. He suggested the mayor sign department heads’ time cards.
He said when people pay fines to City Court in cash, they money often is not deposited to banks as quickly as it should be.
“We’re not talking much money,” he said. “But it should be deposited more frequently,” he said.
Auditors suggested there be segregation of duties among employees when cash is being handled, he said. In city court, that is difficult, he said, because there are so few employees.
