In order to vote in the elections, one must a be duly enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, must be at least 18 and must provide a Chippewa Cree tribal identification card at the poll.
The elections are being held to fill St. Marks’ position as chairman after he was elected and thrown out of office several times and the business committee member position previously held by John “Chance” Houle, who is awaiting sentencing for embezzling from the tribe.
St. Marks was removed from his office after the remaining members of the business committee accused him of nefarious acts while he was in office. St. Marks refused the accusations and told them to get him indicted if they were true. They did not, but they did not need to in order to remove him from office. He says the efforts to remove him from office are because he is dealing with federal prosecutors in uncovering corruption.

Its just to bad, there will be another protest to this wrong election. Also, the electronic counting machine broke that keeps track of the votes casts. Its just a shame for our Tribe.
