A fire 6 miles east of Havre Tuesday on Clear Creek Road had both the Havre and Bear Paw Fire Department fighting to extinguish it.
About 20 acres and a cabin were engulfed in the flames and it was a total loss, said Josh Bebee, fire chief of Bear Paw Fire Department.
“We were probably on it — from when we got the call to when we left — for probably two hours,” Bebee said.
From what the firefighters could determine, it appeared a wood stove started the fire, but how it happened is unknown.
The Bear Paw Fire Department called the Havre Fire Department to assist with the grass fires caused by the flaming cabin. All told, the fire took 20 acres around the cabin.
