Investments have been made in businesses and educational institutions over the last year, and that will be the highlight of this year’s Havre Area Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon that will take place Wednesday, Jan. 21, at noon at the Duck Inn Olympic Room.
Debbie Vandeberg, executive director of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber’s executive committee picks a couple of business people in the community to talk about their business and the challenges and opportunities they have had in the area.
“It provides an insight to the rest of those attending the meeting on other businesses and what’s going on in the community around them,” she said.
Speaking at this year’s event will be:
• Darrin Boss of the Northern Agricultural Research Center, speaking on the impact of agriculture along the Hi-Line.
• Andy Carlson, Havre Public Schools superintendent, showcasing the investments made within Havre Public Schools. Carlson will also discuss the revamping and expanding of Havre High School and Sunnyside Intermediate School.
• Bill McGladdery of Town Pump/TownHouse Inns, speaking on that company’s investments and construction projects that are taking place in the community.
Carlson said he considers his district to be partners with the Chamber of Commerce.
“In my eyes, there’s a natural connection between the schools and the Chamber of Commerce. We want to attract people here — it’s important that our schools are healthy,” he said. “One of the first things people ask when they come to any community is, ‘How are the schools?’”
Carlson also said he appreciates what the Chamber does for the Havre area.
General admission for this luncheon is $25, and $20 for Chamber members.
