Freshman U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont., has a friendly but serious bet with House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, on the results of tonight’s College national football championship.
Zinke, a center for the Oregon Ducks in 1980-84, will wear a scarlet and gray tie Tuesday, the colors of Ohio State, should the Buckeyes succeed in tonight’s first national championship game in Dallas.
And the Speaker will wear an Oregon Duck’s tie should the Ducks take the championship game.
U.S. Reps. Pat Tiber and Steve Stivers of Ohio and Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon will also be participating.
Said Boehner, “I can’t decide what I’m looking forward to most — Zinke and Walden’s Scarlet-and-Gray ties, or the way Oregon’s offense is going to be ‘tied in knots’ after Joey Bosa and the Buckeyes’ defensive line are finished with them.”
Said Walden, “Led by Heisman winner Marcus Mariota’s ‘quack attack,’ the Oregon Ducks have already made us proud with a successful, historic season. I have little doubt that their talent and hard work will ‘win the day’ and bring home the championship on Monday. As a proud U of O alumnus, I’m excited to cheer them on in Dallas and see my Ohio colleagues wear yellow and green on Tuesday. Go Ducks!!”
