For the third time this season, Montana State University-Northern senior A’Jha Edwards has earned the Frontier Conference Women’s Player of the Week award.
Edwards, a senior from Tucson, Arizona, was named Women’s Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The Skylights split their weekend in Florida, beating Northwood College 79-59 and losing to Northwestern (Iowa) 58-63.
Edwards averaged 18 points and 20 rebounds. She made 16-of-28 field goals and 4-of-9 free throws. Against Northwood, she broke the Skylight single-game rebounding record with 25 rebounds. Barb Vandermars held the record for 32 years. In that game, Edwards tallied her 11th double-double of the season with 24 points and her 25 boards.
Rocky Mountain College’s Taylor Longo was named Frontier Men’s Player of the Week. Longo is a 6-1 sophomore guard from Littleton, Colorado.
The Bears went 2-0 last week at the Hampton Inn Classic, beating King’s University 119-57 and Dickinson State 100-71. Longo averaged 20 points, 4.5 rebounds, three steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. He was 15-of-20 from the field (75 percent), 6-of-8 in 3-point shots. Northern junior Warren Edmonson was also noiminated.
