Snow, snow and more snow hits Havre

A heavy snowfall hit Havre last night and a winter storm warning is in effect until 11 p.m. today.

Jim Brusda, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Great Falls, said Havre received about two inches of snow yesterday and an inch overnight.

"The report is taken out at the airport - that is about 3-3.5 miles away from town. It is possible that parts of town could have received a little bit higher snow amounts," he said. "With some blowing and drifting of the snow, it could look a little bit more drifted and the snow amounts could look larger than they actually are."

Brusda also said some warmer air is expected to be moving in Wednesday between 1 and 5 p.m, and the snow is expected to taper off after about 8 p.m. today.

A cold front is expected to come back Wednesday night.

According to National Weather Service, widespread accumulating snow is expected to continue through this evening with the heaviest amounts accumulating today. A total of 10 to 18 inches of snow are expected throughout the plains and valleys, with two to three feet in the mountains.

According to The Weather Channel, snow is expected today and Saturday with highs ranging from 9 to 19 degrees throughout the week and a low of minus 15 Thursday.
