School district to take over city street near Havre High School

An area behind Havre High School has looked like it is in the school’s parking lot, but it actually was an extension of the city of Havre’s 20th Street.

Now, with the construction taking place at the school, Havre Public Schools would like to reconfigure that parking lot.

City council has agreed to a school district request that the city abandon the street and give it to the district.

“We’d just as soon they take it over,” said Public Works Director Dave Peterson.

Council members agreed that the transfer was good for both sides and unanimously agreed to the proposal.
