Winter is a time when many people are looking for things to do to pass the time due to frigid temperatures.
Montana State University's Hill County Extension and Montana State University-Northern will present the Cabin Fever program, which offers classes on various topics
These classes will take place today through Jan. 31 and are open to the community.
Lea Ann Larson, family and consumer science agent at Hill County Extension Office, said that the cabin fever program has been going on for around 15 years. This program was originally created for farmers, however, it has since branched out for anyone in the community to attend.
"The idea of Cabin Fever is to take that new information coming out and get it into the hands in the local folks - whether that be agriculture or education," she said.
Larson also said there are a variety of classes for people to take, such as initial pesticide training, which includes learning about topics such as pesticide laws and regulations, and mental health first aid, which is designed to help people learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses.
Larson also said that some of the Cabin Fever classes offer certification upon completion.
"The goal is to see if we can do that continuing education for the layperson," she said. "Having educational opportunities like these really enhance the community for everybody around them."
