Daniel James Stanley, 72, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at his residence of natural causes.
Wake services began at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and continued until his traditional funeral, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, also at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Parker Family Cemetery.

Daniel was born on Sept. 12, 1942, in Fort Belknap to James and Gladys (Eagle Child) Stanley, Jr. He was raised on Rocky Boy, attending schools there. Following his school years, Daniel entered the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge. Upon returning home, he met Gilda Eagleman, and the couple married in 1965. Their union was blessed with six children, and they raised two others as their own. For many years, Daniel drove a school bus, including driving the Rocky Boy Stars teams to various sports events. He was much beloved by his bus students, who referred to him as "Daniel-San." He retired several years ago, and spent his time with his beloved family.
Daniel enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Chenoah Flat Lip; his parents, James and Gladys Stanley Jr .; and his grandparents, Charles and Delia Dog Sleep.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Gilda Stanley of Rocky Boy; his daughters, Annie and Alanna Jo Stanley and Gladys Flat Lip, all of Rocky Boy, and Danell Stanley of Browning; his sons, Dana, Steve, and Udell Stanley, all of Rocky Boy, and Nathan Stanley of Sheridan, Oregon; his sisters, Ethel Parker of Rocky Boy, Sylvia (Kenneth) Ryan of Wolf Point and Thelma Stanley (Tim Nault) of Rocky Boy; his adopted sister, Taryn Jaye Eagleman of Rocky Boy; his brother, Kenneth Stanley of Rocky Boy; his adopted brothers, Howard Racine of Rocky Boy and Isiac Smith of Missoula; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
