Child sexting hearing next week

New details have surfaced concerning the Havre man who is being held on suspicion of sexual abuse of children by sexting with his cellphone.

Wilford Tilden, who was born in 1982, of Havre has been charged with one count of sexual abuse of children and two counts of privacy in communications.

If convicted, Tilden faces up to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Tilden was in the Hill County Detention Center this morning on $2,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec 29. at the Hill County Courthouse.

According to court documents, Havre Police Department were told Aug. 17 of a situation where a 15-year-old female wrote in her journal that she was involved with Tilden, her co-worker. The girl wrote that she had a “thing with a married 32-year-old man” and that she was “possibly going to have sex with him.” The journal entry was dated for Aug. 15.

The parent of the girl said a man named “Will” had been text messaging his daughter, requesting nude photographs of her two days prior.

Tilden was brought into the police department Aug. 25 for questioning. Tilden indicated that he knew the girl through his job at Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods. He said he knew the girl was 15 or 16 years of age at the time, and knew for certain she was a sophomore in high school.

Tilden said he learned the girl’s age in July 2014. He said he requested nude photographs of her via her cellphone Aug. 15 and that he asked for the photographs two weeks after learning the girl was 15 years old.

Tilden also said he discussed having sex with the girl, but it had not happened. He said they had tongue kissed while they were both at work on one occasion.

The court documents go on to say that Tilden said he sent nude photographs of his penis to another girl who he worked with at the store.

The girl told police that she was 15-years-old at the time she started working with Tilden, and that he at one point told her, “It’s too bad you’re 15 because it would have been fun.”

Tilden obtained the girl’s phone number from an employee list at work and began texting the girl sexual messages, including photos of what she believed were his penis.

The girl then identified an adult female c-oworker as another victim of Tilden’s harassment.

The woman said Tilden had been harassing her through text messages. She said Tilden obtained her phone number through work and had texted her inappropriate messages, using graphic sexual language. She also said his behavior dated back approximately two years.
