Many people were left without power near Havre Tuesday afternoon after a gas line broke near the Saddle Butte area Tuesday.
Butch Larcombe, spokesperson for NorthWestern Energy said a contractor working for Hill County hit a gas line while placing a guardrail in the ground near the area, which led to power being cut as well.
Larcombe said 13 homes lost power because of this.
“We’re working to fix the line. In the meantime we had to cut out the electricity," he said. “We’ll have to go into their homes and relight their pilot lights.”
Havre Fire Chief, Dave Sheppard confirmed Tuesday that no fire broke out.
