Havre Police Department

An officer investigated a report made at 8:17 a.m. Tuesday from 9th Street that a purse had been stolen.

An officer investigated a call at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday from 8th Street in which the caller said someone had stolen something from a vehicle.

——

An officer making a motor vehicle stop at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday on 12th Avenue issued a summons to a 17-year-old, gender and town of residence not listed, on a charge of driving without a license.

——

An officer issued a warning after a caller from a 2nd Street hotel said at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday that a man needed to be removed from the hotel.

An officer investigated a report made at 6:20 p.m. at the police department of someone breaking into a truck and stealing a wallet and medication.

——

An officer investigated a report made at 9:28 p.m. from 15th Street that someone had stolen license plates off of a car.

After Russell Henry Chalifoux, 25, of Havre called at 2:25 this morning from a 1st Street Northeast apartment to complain that a tenant upstairs had been cleaning at night for four nights straight and making lots of noise, an officer arrested Chalifoux on a Justice or City court warrant.

Hill County Sheriff’s Office

Hill County Sheriff’s Office personnel referred a report at 7:47 a.m. of a vehicle rollover five miles north of Havre on Wildhorse Road to another agency. Information from the Montana Highway Patrol about the crash was not available by printing deadline this morning.

After a clerk at a U.S. Highway 2 West hotel called in a complaint at 12:49 this morning, a deputy arrested Daniel Jake Waldner, 31, of Havre on a charge of criminal trespass to property.

Havre Fire Department

Havre Fire Department emergency medical technicians responded to one medical call and firefighters investigated a report of an unusual odor that turned out to be an overheated computer battery backup Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to a gas line break at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday southeast of town.

Firefighters responded to a fire on the 1500 Block of Smithville at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Dryer lint had ignited and started a fire in insulation backing under a trailer house. Firefighters crawled under the trailer to extinguish the fire, which was contained underneath the residence. The residence sustained a small amount of smoke damage inside.

Havre Animal Shelter

The shelter this morning held a male, black and tan mixed-breed heeler dog; a male, tan and white terrier, a male, black, tan and white mixed-breed pit bull puppy, and a male, orange and white cat.
