Three women have been charged with felony theft from Two Winz Casino, an Indian gaming establishment licensed by the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation, with one already pleading guilty and the others pleading not guilty.
Amber Wells, 30 of La Junta, Colorado, Maria Rose Newton, 34, of La Junta, Colorado, and Melinda Marie Descharm, 25, of Box Elder each were charged with theft from an Indian gaming establishment.
The indictment alleges they stole more than $1,000 dollars from the casino on or around Jan. 30, 2013.
Descharm was arrested Aug. 12 in Iowa and pleaded not guilty the same day. She then filed a motion to change her plea Aug. 20. Descharm pleaded guilty Sept. 10. She was kept in custody due to multiple pending detainees and warrants. Judge Brian Morris sentenced her to time served and three years of supervised probation. Additionally, she is be required to pay $8,250 in restitution.
Wells and Newton were arrested Oct. 1.
Newton pleaded not guilty Nov. 5 and Wells pleaded not guilty Tuesday
Wells and Newton remain in custody. Newton’s pretrial conference is set for Jan. 12, 2015 and Wells pretrial conference is set for Feb. 2.
