Alvin L. Donner, 79, formerly of Havre, passed away Nov. 19, 2014, at St. Vincent Providence, Portland, Oregon, of natural causes.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Donelson Funeral Chapel in Portland, with Father Jose Ugalde officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. for family only at Mountain View Cemetery, Oregon City.
Alvin was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Portland, Oregon, to Alvin and Marie Donner. He lived in Oregon until 1946 then moved to Montana and lived there until 2011.
Alvin was active in his community, he honorably served in the Montana National Guard for nine years; was involved in Eagles Club, Elks Club, Lions Club, was chairman of Order of Arrow and served many years as a Boy Scout leader.
Alvin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Sylvia, in 2011; son, Steven; parents, Alvin and Marie Donner; and brother Claude.
He is survived by children, James (Sue) Donner of Glendale, Oregon, Douglas (Gail) Donner of Delavon, Wisconsin, Duane Donner of Milwaukie, Oregon, Byron Donner of Portland, Oregon, and Teresa (Darryl) Greeno of Hillsboro, Oregon; brothers Richard Donner of Washington, Arthur Donner of Oregon and Michael Donner of Montana; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family has requested that memorials be made in Alvin's name to the Montana Council/Boy Scouts of America, 820 17th Ave. S., Great Falls, MT 59405, or to the charity of one's choice.
