A hearing on whether to remove Ken Blatt St. Marks as Chippewa Cree tribal chairman will be held Monday at tribal headquarters.
Tribal council voted Friday to suspend St. Marks for a second time. Monday’s hearing is being held “to afford Ken Blatt St. Marks due process and a full and fair opportunity to respond to all charges as required by the Constitution,” the tribe said in a letter to employees.
In the letter, Interim Chairman Richard 'Ricky' Morsette sent a memo to all Rocky Boy staff that they were to get paid leave until Dec. 1 because of the ongoing controversy.
“Please be advised that Ken Blatt St. Marks has no authority to speak on behalf of the Chippewa Cree Tribe,” the email reads. “The interim Chairman Richard “Ricky” Morsette has determined that an early release effective immediately is necessary to protect the health, safety, and well-being of employees.”
St. Marks has continued to show up for work every day, and there have been no incidents thus far.
This is the second time St. Marks has been suspended after winning an election.
St. Marks said anger is mounting, and predicts a large crowd for Monday’s meeting.
“There are a lot of pissed off Indians down here,” he said.
It is not clear what time the hearing will be Monday.

First... Ricky, Ted W. And Gerald Havre no say what so ever. And the Tribal lawyers representing these people are the ones causing all the controversy. LeAnn should do her job right instead of leading them on causing all this trouble. Kenny St. Marks is our Tribal Chairmen whether these guys/people like it are not, They just scared of all the corruption that will surface once he is in Office. The three that are left should stand up and tell the three to leave. Have some dignity.
