Four things to do for Thanksgiving: Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Volunteer Gus Sharp will be up early Thursday morning getting ready to deliver Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins around Havre.

A team of people will deliver the turkey dinners that have been prepared by volunteers for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

Most people will enjoy the community atmosphere of the Thanksgiving dinner, but for those who cannot make it, Sharp and his team will be making deliveries.

"All of the names that are called in to the senior center, I take care of - along with some help from a number of people in my office. We put together all the routing for the deliveries. And then we go over at about 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning and box up whatever number of meals and pies for each of the 20-plus routes - then we have people who help us to deliver them."

Sharp believes this annual event shows how compassionate the Havre community is.

"Not only are they willing to provide meals for people that need them, but they're willing to provide the means to deliver them to those that aren't able to come in to the Parish Center to have the meal," he said.

Individuals who cannot make it to the dinner can ask for a meal to be delivered by calling the North Central Senior Center at 265-5464 this afternoon.
