Lyndon Byron Gray Sr., Rocky Mountain Man, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in Harlem, Montana.
Wake services began at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy, and continued until his traditional funeral service, which was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Ken Writing Bird and Archie Arkinsen officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Lyndon was born on Oct. 25, 1965, in Havre to Charles A. and Carolyn G. (Writing Bird) GrayBoy. He attended schools in Great Falls, Rocky Boy and Box Elder, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1985. In 1986, he met Frances Buffalo, and from this union three children were born. Lyndon and Frances lived in Rocky Boy and Fort Belknap. The couple later separated. Lyndon also had a daughter from Idaho. On the powwow trail, he met Geralyn Adams, and they married Dec. 25, 2005, in Las Vegas, and shared their lives together in Pablo, Arlee, Rocky Boy and Harlem until her passing in 2011. In February 2013, Lyndon remarried Frances Buffalo.
Lyndon worked for Fort Belknap Headstart as the head cook and attended culinary chef training in Santa Fe, New Mexico, while employed there. He also was a sanitation worker in Harlem. In September 2014, he began working with Harlem High School as a janitor.
Lyndon enjoyed singing with his dad, uncles, brothers and sisters with the family drum group, The Gray Boy Singers. With his brothers, sisters and nephews, they sang as the Assiniboine Cree drum group often, joined by his singing buddies and brothers. Lyndon crafted in tanning hides, beading, powwow drums, hand drums and clocks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geralyn in 2011; his parents, Charles and Carolyn GrayBoy Sr .; his sisters, Charlyis "Jana" GrayBoy, baby sister, Jenelle Gray; adopted sister, Dorothy Sanchez; paternal grandparents, Andrew Gray and Agnes Gives the Blanket; maternal grandparents, Charles and Edith (Chief Goes Out) Writing Bird; and his adopted mothers, Peggy Ballard and Ruth Lamere.
Lyndon is survived by his wife, Frances Gray of Hobbema, Alberta; his children, Lyndon (Princess) Gray, Jr., Felicia and Aaron Gray, Tyrell and Sheena Buffalo, and Summer Big Plume, all of Hobbema, Alberta, and Jordana Bear of Idaho; his sister Edith (Nolan Billy) Gray of Rocky Boy; his brothers Charles (Pearl) GrayBoy, Jr., of Fort Belknap, Melvin Writing Bird of Rocky Boy, Curtis Gray of Rocky Boy, Wesley Gray of Havre, Marvin (Lee) Gray of Fort Belknap and Reese (Rochelle) Gray Boy Sr. of Fort Belknap; special aunts/moms, Ruby Stump, Nadine Morsette, Carol Gutierrez, Pearl Whitford, Geraldine Rutherford, Mary Jane Eagleman, Alphadene IronMan; special uncles, Kenny Writing Bird, Alan Gardipee, Archie Arkinson, the TopSky family and Sivinnia Brown; adopted brothers and sister, Doreen Carrie, Rose Esparza, Adrian Main, Myron Knight, Jesse Stump, Sherwin Obey Sr., Jon Weasel and Kenny Brown.
