Letter to the Editor: Businesswoman: Pre-K education is vital

Editor:

As an innovator and business owner in Montana, I know firsthand how important it is that we have a strong workforce both now and into the future.  It is critical that our children learn to think creatively, to think outside the box, to explore and to ask questions from an early age.

We know that high-quality preschool prepares kids to do just that when they enter kindergarten classrooms, yet far too many children do not have access to or their families cannot afford preschool.

I feel it is extremely important to make sure every Montana 4-year-old has the opportunity to access voluntary, high-quality early childhood education.  I strongly support universal, voluntary preschool for Montana's kids.

Forty-two other states are already making investments in pre-K and early childhood programs, and it is time for Montana to invest in these programs as well.
