A new funeral home has opened in Havre.
Hi-Line Funeral Services opened its doors Friday, Oct. 15, at 310 S. Dell, which is the former location of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene.
Greg Kirkwood, the owner of Hi-Line Funeral Services, said he is excited to have opened his business in Havre.
"Several families were asking for us to open up," he said.
Kirkwood is also the owner of Kirkwood Funeral Home in Malta. He said his favorite part about his business is "being able to help a family in the time of need, to make the right choices and help them get through the grieving process."
Kirkwood is aware that some individuals are not comfortable with this business location.
"The biggest thing was they did not want a crematory. There will never be a crematory in that location," he said.
Kirkwood and his business partner, Cherie Edwards, offer funeral visitations and funeral arrangements.
"We will also be selling monuments and doing funerals," Kirkwood said. Kirkwood and Edwards also sell caskets.
Eric Edwards, Cherie's son, is taking online classes through Arapahoe Community College in Colorado in order to become a mortician. He will act as the office manager for Hi-Line Funeral Services.
Hi-Line Funeral Services is the second funeral home in town. Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel was established in 1906.
