Alice B. (Doney) Pewonka passed away on October 14, 2014, just one day short of her 91st birthday, at the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, Montana.
A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, and will be followed by interment in Highland Cemetery.
Alice has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church or to Bear Paw Hospice.

She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Landusky, Montana, to Peter and Lydia (Lavenger) Doney, the second of nine children. Alice attended school in Zortman, Montana. Growing up in the 1930's like everyone else of that generation, at a young age Alice learned everyone had to work.
In her early years she worked for Riverside Cabins, and the Great Northern Hotel in Malta, later in her life she worked for the Up 'n Up Café in Havre. Then for a combination of twenty years she worked for the 6th Avenue Nursing Home and the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in Havre. She was recognized many times for her service to others and work ethic over those years.
Alice will most certainly be remembered for her creative talents, crocheting, knitting and numerous other crafts, her hands were never idle long. She always had a project going for someone. Most of what she made she gave away to family, friends, community members or donated to some worthy cause.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband Robert Pewonka; parents, Peter and Lydia Doney; brothers Alex "Jiggs", Gene, and Donald "Andy" Doney; sister Ruby LaTray; half-brother Charles Lavenger; and half-sister Grace Campbell.
She is survived by son Elmer A. Cure, Box Elder, Montana; daughters, Shirlee (Wayne) Brillhart, Musselshell, Montana, and Carol Jean (Tom) Koontz, Phoenix, Arizona; stepchildren, Jim (Annetta) Ulrich Williston, North Dakota, Lana (Dwight) Linde, Williston, North Dakota, Fern (David) Lohse, Havre, Montana, and Parris (Della) Pewonka, Sidney, Montana; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Elmer Doney, Spokane, Washington, and Leonard Doney, Havre, Montana; sisters, Maxine LaTray, Anaconda, Montana, Edna (Gordon) Teske, Great Falls,, Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
