Friends of Beaver Creek Park hold third annual event in Havre
A group organized to help Beaver Creek Park is moving its third annual fundraiser off the park, with "Fall in Love with Beaver Creek Park" starting Saturday afternoon in Havre.
Ursula Brese of Friends of Beaver Creek Park said the group decided to hold its fundraiser at the Eagles Club to make it easier to attend the event, which includes a prime rib dinner and live and silent auctions.
The first two Friends fundraisers were held at Camp Kiwanis in the park.
The local Milk River Band also will be playing at the Eagles during the event.
The nonprofit Friends of Beaver Creek Park was created at the end of 2011 to help preserve, maintain and improve the park. Since its creation, it has provided volunteers and funding for projects, including buying a new stove for the Beaver Lodge at Camp Kiwanis, a pole saw and a professional-quality paint sprayer for the park.
Brese said the group still is looking for any items people or businesses may wish to donate for Saturday's fundraiser, saying they could call her at 262-7767 if they had any items.
The event starts with a no-host social time at 4 p.m., and the $25 prime rib dinner, children 12 and under eating for free, starting at 6 p.m. Brese said people buying a dinner will be given a wristband to distinguish them from people just coming to the event without eating.
A slide show will be running throughout dinnertime, brochures will be available, and caps and T-shirts will be for sale at the fundraiser. The silent auction will run through the event and the live auction will be held after the dinner.
