The yard of Joe Phillip at 516 3rd St. was chosen as the Yard of the Week by the Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club.
"It is a very unique and interesting property, giving one the feeling of a little oasis," the club said in its statement.
"In the front yard, there are several raised beds made by Joe out of recycled wood. They have been planted with a variety of flowers as well as spring vegetables.There are also several rose bushes along the front sidewalk, as well as potted begonias and impatients along the front porch,' the club said.
The side yard is entered through a vine -covered arched doorway.
Old Havre brick is used to border an area that has many potted and hanging plants.
Recycled material was used to make interesting solar lights.
