Local Bowling Report: It's National Learn to Bowl Month

Ten Pin Chatter...

In the 1970s, the former Montana State Women’s Bowling Association started an awards program for women bowling in the state tournaments. After the merger of the associations, that program has continued with a pin given to women who bowl in the tournament for 10 years.

The pin is designed to add a bar for every five years of participation. There are three ladies who qualified for the award this year. They are, Michele Denny, 10 years, Jackie Mayer, 25 years and Kristi Kline, 30 years. Congratulations ladies for a well deserved award.

October is National Learn to Bowl Month. Hi-Line Lanes will be running classes during that month. More information will come next week in this column.

TOURNEY TRAIL: The John Wiley Memmorial Tournament will be Oct. 4-5. There will be $3,000 in added prize money. Call 1-888-452-4176 for your spot.

The State Senior Tournament starts this weekend and runs through Oct. 19th in Thompson Falls. Call (406)827-4597 for reservations.

TIP OF THE WEEK: This is a repeat of a tip on keeping bowling balls clean and free of oil and dirt. It is necessary to keep your bowling ball free and clear of oil and dirt expecially the new reactive ones, as they absorb oil like a sponge. It is best to use a microfiber towel. After a few lines the ball should be cleaned with a cleaner (not alcohol), or resurfaced, put in a ball cleaner, or have it put in a “sweat box” to extract the oil.

Bowlers are asked to fill out their recap sheets in full when done bowling. All they have to do is copy the results off of the screen. Circle all 200 games and 500 series for women, 220 and 600 for men and write down all splits that are converted. We thank you.
