Meradel Marie Romain, 83, passed away on Aug, 24, 2014, in Phoenix.
Meradel was born in 1931 to Alvin Wolf and Lottie Mae Donnell Wolf in Santa Clara, California, where she grew up. Lottie Mae divorced and later married Richard C Vaughan who adopted Meradel. She met John Romain at a USO event outside of Camp Roberts, California, and married him in December 1952.
John whisked her off from her sheltered city life to the middle of nowhere south of Chester, Montana. That was quite a lifestyle change but Meradel hung in there. They had two children, Angela and Wayne, before moving to Havre, Montana, in 1960, where they had another child, Rick, in 1962.
Meradel was active in local events and politics. They traveled all over the world which back in those days was quite something. She graduated from Northern Montana College in 1970. She formed many great friendships and came back to Havre for a visit in 2005. In 1974 the family moved to a beautiful property on Whitefish Lake where they owned Northwood Galleries before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1982.
Meradel lived at a North Phoenix Senior Community for the last 10 years. Meradel is survived by her three children, Angela, Wayne with his daughter "Mia" Romain and Rick, with his wife Janet and daughter Kaley Nicole Romain, all living the Phoenix area. Meradel was always there for her children whenever she was needed. She loved to write and always wanted to publish a book. Fortunately, she wrote us some stories and provided us great research on our family tree from her side of the family for which we are grateful.
