Mary Jane LaMere, 85, of Rocky Boy, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Wake services will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and will continue until her traditional funeral service, which will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Mary Jane was born on July 10, 1929, in Great Falls, Montana, to Joseph and Mary (Guay) St. Marks. She was raised in Great Falls and Rocky Boy, attending school at Franklin Grade School and Sawmill School. Following her school years, she married Theodore LaMere, and the couple's union was blessed with eight children. Mary Jane stayed home with the children, caring for her house and her family, and at times worked for the Rocky Boy Café and as a flagger for Hill County.
Mary Jane enjoyed raising her grandchildren, nieces and nephews while their parents worked, traditional dancing, sewing, reading, watching Native American dancing videos, powwow Indian dancing and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Guay) St. Marks; her husband, Theodore LaMere Sr .; her son, Richard LaMere; her grandson, Dolan Sun Child; her brothers, Paul Nomee, Victor Nomee, Myles St. Marks, Peter J. St. Marks and Orville St. Marks; her sisters, Elizabeth Parker, Esther Turner, Mary Nault and Leona Mitchell; and numerous extended family.
Mary Jane is survived by her sons, Pete Thomas (Leah) LaMere, Theodore (Carol) LaMere Jr, Joey (Pauline) LaMere, and Chris (Tenniell) LaMere, all of Rocky Boy, and Gabe LaMere of Seattle, Washington; her daughters, Theda (Rick) Morsette, Susie LaMere, and Winona LaMere, all of Rocky Boy; her 34 grandchildren; her 62 great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
Mary Jane's family would like to extend a special thanks to Kerry Murphy who helped take care of Mary Jane for the past two years, and also to other beloved family and friends who helped care for her.
