On July 18, 2014, Dorothy Jean (Bough) Majerus, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the Central Montana Medical Center.
A Vigil will be held Tuesday, July 22 at 7 p.m., and Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lewistown.
Dorothy was born to Edward and Anna (O'Connor) Bough on May 22, 1926, in Havre, Montana. She was the youngest of the five Bough girls who worked to help make a living on the family homestead 20 miles north of Havre and attend elementary school in the St. Joe one- room school.
On Nov. 7, 1945, Dorothy married Edward J. Majerus in Havre. Last November they celebrated 68 years together. In 1952 the couple purchased a ranch along the Judith River outside of Lewistown where they made their home and raised a family of seven children.
Dorothy was a caring person who always put the needs of others before her own. She would work beside her husband and children on the ranch and then have a hearty meal on the table at the end of the day.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Edward; her sister, Evelyn Baird of Cedaredge, Colorado; seven children; Bob (Sue) Majerus of Great Falls, Mark (Marilyn) Majerus of Bridger, Don (Phyllis) Majerus of Bozeman, Leo (Linda) Majerus of Lewistown, Anita Majerus of Billings, Phil (Lynette) Majerus of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Tim (Teresa) Majerus of Lewistown; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Bough; sisters; Margaret McKinnie, Frances Schafer and Annamae Somers; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Majerus.
