Montana delegation should work to close southern border

To Sen. Jon Tester, Sen. John Walsh, Rep. Steve Daines:

The United States of America, the land of the free, just celebrated its 238th birthday.

We, the people, enjoy more freedom than anywhere else in the world.

Having said that, though, I have not, in my lifetime, seen a greater assault on our rights and liberties.

We have some grave challenges. I would attest that most crucial among them is our broken immigration system.

The United States is being invaded on the southern border and little is being done about it. Most troubling is that we have our military involved to prevent invasions in other countries, so it begs the question, why do we not have troops on the southern border to secure it?

What’s so troubling is that President Barack Obama and Congress are allowing it to happen.

Let us not be fooled, if we allow the children to stay, then to follow will be the moms, dads and families.

Bottom line, they are here illegally. Tell me, how is that fair for the thousands who are attempting to immigrate to the U.S. legally?

This issue needs to be resolved and soon. Close the border and then let the debate on immigration policy continue.

I would propose that the three of you get together in support of closing the southern border, then stand together and exert some leadership.

That would demonstrate a willingness to put politics aside, it would set an example for other state delegations to follow. Can we expect a joint statement from the three of you in support of closing the southern border?

Now, I realize that Congress has only 26 working days left before the November elections.

Since you only spend, on average, three days a week in Washington, D.C., I’m proposing that Congress sets five days a week and doesn’t recess until the border is closed.

I appreciate your previous statements about defending those principles that made America the freest country on Earth. Now it's time to step up, stand together and lead.

As you know, I don’t care about politics, but only about the issues, if you folks would adhere to the same principle you can get the job done.

Please know that Montanans will stand with you.

Thanks for all that you do.

Well said. I just watched the History channel of all the processes that it took of buying states and shaping the united states all the way up. All that work... we can not stand by and just let illegals pour in. Our poor law enforcement and military branches. prayers
