Montana State University-Northern men’s basketball coach Shawn Huse held his annual Lights Team Camp over the weekend. The camp ran Thursday through Saturday at the Armory Gymnasium.
Huse said the camp had a different format this year, as players from high schools were put onto different rosters for the team tournament, instead of high school teams competing against each other.
In the 5-on-5 team tournament, Team Clippers beat Team Spurs 73-66 in overtime in the championship game, while Team Heat defeated Team Thunder 67-58 in the fourth-place game.
The Clippers were coached by Pat Jensen and consisted of Havre’s Marlin Dickenson, Nate Korb, Trey Murphy and Blake Brady, as well as Duncan MacDonald, Pernell Morsette and Jake Irvin of Box Elder. The Spurs were coached by Anfernee Standing Rock and was made up of Havre’s Austin Jones, Rian Gulick of Rudyard, Parker Johnston of Frazer and Brandon The Boy of Box Elder. The Heat were coached by Kevin Oberweiser and was composed of Chinook’s Wade Schneider, Turner’s Eddie Harmon and Frazer’s Justin White, Saunder St. Marks, Jason Jackson, Jarom Talks Different and Clayton White. The Thunder were led by Warren Edmonson and the team was made up of Havre’s Jerod Boles, Nate Rismon, Austin DeLarosa and Zjahn Skones, as well as Hays-Lodge Pole’s Johnathon Fox and Frazer’s Harry Azure and Jeff Flynn.
In the situation portion of the camp, the Clippers won the First Team to 3 Points tournament, the Thunder won the 1-and-1 tournament, the Heat won the Side Out of Bounds tournament and the Spurs won the Down One with the Ball Underneath the Basket tournament.
Huse will hold one final camp this summer, the Lights Youth Camp, which runs June 29-July 2.
