Beeter boys shine at Class C state golf tourney

Last week was an exciting one for Chinook spring sports. And the Chinook boys golf team was a big part of that excitement.

The Sugarbeeters placed second at last week’s Class C state golf tournament, held at the Double Arrow Lodge at Seeley Lake. Chinook scored a 497 to finish 16 strokes behind state champion Lone Peak. Seely-Swan was a distant third with a 505.

Individually, Chinook junior Lane Seymour tied for second with rounds of 78-76 for a tow-day total of 154. The Beeters were also bolstered by a solid fifth-place finish from Jake Diemert, who shot rounds of 77 and 79. Both Seymour and Diemert earned Class C All-State honors.

Zach Molyneaux also competed for the Beeters, shooting two rounds of 92, while Derek Bell shot 95 and 99. The lone Chinook girl in attendance, Stacie Miller shot rounds of 119 and 126.

Meanwhile, a pair of Harlem Wildcats played in last week’s Class B state golf tournament, held at Fairmont Hot Springs. On the boys side, Isaiah Laurence shot rounds of 97 and 95 to represent the Wildcats. On the girls side, Carrigan Jones shot rounds of 108 and 108.

Other team state champions included the Belt girls in the Class C ranks, while Columbus won the Class B boys title and Townsend captured the Class B girls state championship.
