Montana State University-Northern senior Charlie Mack is heading back to the College National Finals Rodeo.
The MSU-Northern rodeo teams wrapped up their Big Sky Region season this past weekend at the University of Montana Rodeo in Missoula. There, Mack secured a berth in the CNFR by placing third in the bareback riding with a 98 score. Mack also wound up third in the final Big Sky Region standings and will make his second straight trip to the CNFR, which will be held June 15-21 in Casper, Wyoming.
“Charlie did a great job, he worked hard and was consistently riding tough all year long,” said MSU-N head rodeo coach Doug Kallenberger. “We're very excited for him and what a great way to end out his senior season.”
The Lights wound up finishing sixth in Missoula last weekend.
Two weeks ago in Great Falls, the Lights placed fifth at the UGF Rodeo held at the Four Seasons Arena. Mack was again outstanding, finishing fourth in the bareback, but also placing sixth in the bull riding. That put Mack in contention for the All-Around title in Great Falls. Also in Great Falls, Kassy Brough placed eighth overall in the barrel racing for the Skylights.
For the season, the MSU-Northern men’s team placed fifth in the Big Sky Region standings. The Montana State Bobcats captured the Big Sky men’s team title. The MSU-N women placed eighth in the final Big Sky Region standings, while Brough, a Havre native, placed 15th in the barrel racing.
Northern will resume its rodeo season next fall.
