HHS coaches honored

Havre High School racked up two Class A state championships during the winter sports season. And the head coaches who led Blue Pony teams to those titles were recently honored.

The Montana High School Association’s Montana Coaches Association recently announced its Winter Coaches of the Year list, and both HHS wrestling coach Scott Filius and Havre girls basketball coach Dustin Kraske were honored.

Filius earned Class A Wrestling Coach of the Year after leading the Blue Ponies to the state championship back in February in Billings. Kraske was named Class A Girls Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding his team to the state championship last month in Great Falls.

Two more former locals were also honored in basketball. Dustin Gordon, head coach of the amazing Fairfield girls basketball team was named Class B Coach of the Year. Gordon formerly coached at Chester. Another former Chester, and MSU-Northern, standout Jeff Graham was named Class C Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.

All MCA Coach of the Year recipients will be honored at a ceremony at the annual MCA Clinic this August in Great Falls.
