Firefighters were called at 5:53 p.m. Friday to extinguish a fire that was started on the 1300 Block of Lincoln Avenue near the Head Start building.
The fire was started by two children around the age of 10 who were playing with matches and burning dead leaves.
“The kids started a fire, it got out of hand on them and they weren’t able to put it out,” Havre Fire Department Chief Dave Shepherd said.
The fire was begun between a garage at a residence and a shed owned by Head Start. The fire spread to both structures, causing $5,000-worth of damage to the shed and $1,500-worth to the garage.
